Corn is king in Iowa. I never saw so much corn before! Almost every field is planted in corn. And almost every bit of land is farmed. The corn is tall and green this time of year and is really a pretty sight.
I was told that pigs outnumber people in Iowa, but I didn't see any. I did see a herd of buffalo.
And a flock of sheep.
But mostly, I saw corn.
Told you it was tall.
We're traveling in Illinois right now and seeing the same thing. Michiga has a fair amount of corn, but it's TALL in Illinois. Corn, tall corn, everywhere. :)
ReplyDeletewow that is tall! my poor waist-high corn is pretty sad and pathetic indeed.
ReplyDeleteTracy,
ReplyDeleteI'm so sad I missed you in Iowa. I think it is _so_ neat that you made Iowa a vacation stop because of the Preemie Project. I really wish I could have been there. I have moved to Oregon, so I now find myself a national volunteer instead of a local volunteer...weird! As I'm sitting here looking out at Mount Hood from my deck, your photos of Iowa are making me all misty-eyed! Thanks so much for your inspiration, in your wonderful projects for the tiny babies and your zest for life.
Pigs do outnumber people here and all that corn gives off moisture which makes it so hot and humid! You did a really great thing on your vacation!
