One More Time
Well, I thought I had knitted my last pumpkin hat for the year until I won this book from a contest on Veronica's blog and I learned that I needed a gift for a baby to be born this month.
Pattern: Little Pumpkin from Itty-Bitty Hats
Yarn: Plymounth Encore D.K (orange) and Sirdar Snuggly (brown and green)
Needles: US 7, 16 inch circular and dpns
Size: Newborn
I really like the way the decreases are done in this pattern. Better looking than what I've used before. Next year, this is how I'll make my preemie pumpkin hats. The leaf isn't really right for a pumpkin leaf, but it's cute. The stem is garter stitch which is different too. However, the model hat in the book shows the stem in stockinette stitch. Someone didn't catch that, I guess. I'm really excited to have won this book. So many cute hats and great ideas!
Very cute! I like the garter stitch stem- it's neat to see something different once in awhile.
ReplyDeleteI must take a closer look at that pattern! The garter stitch stem is a great addition!
ReplyDeleteCute hat!! The decreases do look nice...
ReplyDeleteawwww! adorable hat
ReplyDeleteI like the ribbing....it makes it look like the grooves on a pumpkin. Those crocheted vine tendrils that are on one of those patterns out there might be cuter than the leaves.
ReplyDeletenow this is so adorable! So cute! I love pumkin hats, really all veggie and fruit hats for sweet angels are precious!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! GREAT JOB
The hat is so adorable.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect prize for you to win. I look forward to seeing more of the hats you knit from the book. The pumpkin is darling.
ReplyDeleteI have coveted that book for awhile, seeing your hat has just moved me toward making purchasing it a reality. I love this hat!
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI am the author of Itty-Bitty Hats! Your hat looks terrific. I have noted the garter stitch stem issue and have already notified my publisher. It will be fixed in the next printing. Thank you for the heads up. No matter how hard everyone tries, it seems there is always something that sneaks by.
Your stem looks cute in garter stitch anyway!
I have a free pattern for a helicopter hat available on www.archildrens.org, it is under the Knitting for Noggins section. The picture they are using for the hat doesn't show the helicopter feature very well, but it is a fun pattern. Since you are a charity hat knitter I thought you might be interested. This is a great organization to check out.
Have a great day!
