Three squares for Rebuilding Greensburg -- Block by Block.

As I was knitting these this weekend, I wondered what it would be like to lose everything? What would I miss the most? How attached to material things am I? I'd like to think that I'm not that attached, but I don't think you can truly know what it would be like until it happens to you. The people of Greensburg, Kansas know. Many are starting over from scratch. Laura's project is a way to encourage them and to say we care. If you want to help out with the effort, click here for all the details. There have been a few changes since I linked to it the last time: it's now even easier to use the yarn you have in your stash.

  1. I did finish one square and hope to do many more. As many times as I say to myself..."where did all this 'crap' come from", I know it would be more than hard to loose some of it.

  2. Tracy...thanks for the heads up on this project. I will get going on a few. Did you ever hear anything about the ones we made for Project compassion?

  3. Thanks for the letting us know about this wonderful project. I know I can knit several garter stitch squares from the wool and wool blends in my stash. Love the green shades in your squares.

  4. I started my square tonight. It's funny, the actual knitting process I found so much more relaxing and comforting knowing that it was going to someone who would need it, and not just going to be an unused gift or sweater sitting in my closet. Like you said, it really does make you think.

This is a really great gesture for those in Kansas. Me and my daughter will have to contribute....
