Friday's Flowers
Shooting Star
June is a good time to visit Colorado if you love wildflowers. I didn't even think about that when we left for our trip, because wildflower season here in Texas is much earlier in the year. Identifying the flowers became a fun activity for me and gave me something to do while John fished. In all, I found over 40 different flowers, many that I was not familiar with and do not grow in Texas. I promise not to share all them, but here are a few.
Mariposa Lily
Dusky Beardtongue
Yellow Pea
Tall Fringed Bluebells
Have a great weekend and don't forget to stop and smell the flowers every chance you get.
The flowers are all beautiful! I love wildflowers and like to do what you did. I had forgotten how much I liked Mariposa lilies. I fist saw them when my family visited Yosemite over 10 years ago. Thanks for the wonderful picture!
ReplyDeleteOur wildflowers are about 3 weeks ahead of schedule...and almost burned up. We'd love some of your rain!!
ReplyDeleteI'm SOOO envious of your CO trip. I'm originally from southern Wyoming, and desperately miss the Rockies...you really can't beat Estes Park for a mountain experience.
ReplyDeleteI'd be happy to send you some blue columbine seeds from my plants. They're practically like weeds here in MN. Let me know at dtisinger [at] gmail [dot] com if you want some.
Rachel is home for a visit and we are doing the same thing! We have been walking the roadsides with the flower book and identifing wildflowers.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see more flower photos. We're past the flowering stage, and the lack of rain has not helped.
ReplyDeleteI haven't stopped to enjoy the flowers this week. With your help I think I did. Have a great weekend.

Oh, I just love these photos of the flowers! My favorite are the lilies. I need to learn how to take such close-in photos without them being blurry! Thanks for sharing.
