I like that Texans are proud of their state and flag. Did you know Texas has a state pledge?
"Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible."
The Texas Pledge is routinely recited in schools after the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States. The phrase "one state under God" was added in 2007.
Texas pride is what makes Texas special and different from any place I've ever lived. A Texas flag painted on the side of a building is a common sight.
Anything can be turned into a Texas flag and often is.
T is Texas--the place I'm proud to call home.
That's great. I didn't know about the state pledge. What a great sentiment! Yeah Texas.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could!
ReplyDeleteMe too
ReplyDeleteI've admired Texas' pride. I knew a guy who called it The Republic of Texas. People generally aren't proud to be from here and those of us who were born in different places were often proud of that.
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that the great state of Texas is one state under God! That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteIn a world where we have little pride, it's good to see that Texas is still overcompensating for the rest of us. :)
ReplyDeleteLast October, I had the privilege of driving across Texas (it definitely takes more than a single day) and saw that Texas pride. It was heart-warming to experience. The Lone Star was everywhere!
ReplyDeleteI was also touched by the displays in small, town squares for those who are serving in the military. It made me very proud to be an American.
We were Texans for a brief time! Love that state!
ReplyDeleteThough I was born in Oklahoma, having lived nearly 39 years now in Texas, I very much consider myself a Texan. We Texans are mighty proud of our state. ;-)
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty pictures! Very colorful! Happy in Texas!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to have pride in your home even if adopted.
ReplyDeleteI certainly enjoyed MY 5 years in Texas. LOVE your pictures!
ReplyDelete(BTW, cough, check http://ericah.blog.com, cough. I, cough, nominated you, cough.)
I gotta tell ya, I have a HUGE LOVE of Texas! I've been as far south as Corpus Christi, then to San Antonio, to Victoria, and the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Haven't been in several years now, but I've loved every trip to your great state!!
