X is for Xtraordinary

I know this is not the correct spelling of extraordinary, but with fewer than two pages of x words in my dictionary and absolutely none that appealed to me, I'm invoking creative license on this one.

I find it xtraordinary that an orchid John gave me way back in March has survived and actually bloomed again.

In the past I've managed to keep orchids alive, but never have I had a repeat bloom. This is a first and it may never happen again--an event worthy of being called xtraordinary with an x!

Besides, these photos are much better than anything I could ever come up with for x-ray, XL, xylophone or X-mas.

  1. The orchid blooms are beautiful. I managed to keep an orchid plant alive for a couple of years, though I never got a repeat bloom on it. I don't do well with house plants. Apparently, they like to get water on occasion, a fact I often overlook. ;-Þ

Thank you for the comment on the PJ's. My grandmother made PJ's for us every Christmas and we loved them.

  5. What beautiful pictures, Tracy! Love the color of your phalaenopsis orchid. Can you tell I love Orchids by my blog name? LOL!

Can you give us just a couple of hints on the care you gave your orchid for it to bloom again?

  8. Gorgeous orchids.

I've never owed an orchid, but I have a friend who has several. They are temperamental plants.

It's beautiful!! I can't grow anything except mould, I'm afraid. I'd love to have a green thumb, especially if I could grow something that lovely!

Beautiful orchid! I have two of them that sit right by my kitchen sink and they love the warm, humid air of that area. They usually bloom from early May until August or September. I'm jealous that you got it to bloom twice in less than a year. Keep doing whatever it is you're doing.

Orchids are so beautiful! I have two orchid greenhouses near me and I love going in during blooming season. Some of them are so unusual looking. I love that the blooms last so long.

  16. These photos have a dream like quality about them, very artistic. The contrast between the dark background and the brightness of the orchid is xceptional (tee hee). This orchid must be happy in your home.

  21. Exquisitely beautiful orchid, Tracy! Here's to more blooms! :o) I love orchids of all kinds. I've had most of mine re-bloom several times, but was sad last year when my Dendrobium gave out and I had to get rid of it. :o( But I'm on the hunt for a new on! ;o) Wishing you and X-traordinary day ((HUGS))
