We found the perfect cards to send this year.

Thinking of you and sending the warmest greetings of the season.

Sums up our interests pretty well: birds, beach, shells, knitted scarves...all that's missing is a fish.

I finished spinning the 1/2 pound of Fine Brown Shetland roving that I started back in September.

It turned out to be a light worsted weight yarn. There's a lot of it. Probably enough to knit a vest.

Putting together jigsaw puzzles was a winter activity in my home growing up. That's why I always get the urge to start one this time of year.

We probably won't finish it before we need the table for Christmas dinner, so I'm glad we're using a puzzle mat.

As for knitting, I'm trying to finish John's socks and I'm working on a quick garter stitch project.

  1. Love the card! We bought beachy Santa and snowmen cards this year. Just happened to see them at the last minute!

Seeing your puzzle reminds me of when I was a kid. My mom used to have a card table set up so that we could come and go and work on the puzzle. She did that for years and years. I really enjoyed doing them. Thanks for the memory. Haven't thought about that in a long time.

  2. The card IS perfect as is your handspun. A vest would be a nice way to show it off.
I also grew up doing Jigsaw puzzles and thought about getting one for Smith and I to do. Not sure I want to give up my knitting time, however. ;-)

  3. We always did puzzles when I was a kid - especially over Christmas break. Someone would inevitably hide one piece, so they could be the one to finish the puzzle. I love your cards; they are perfect.

  4. Great cards - they are perfect for you.

Nice handspun too, and it looks soft.
I keep trying to convince my husband that we need to add some shetland sheep to the flock. They are so cute!

  5. The fish are there, you just can't see them because the birds ate them already ;o)

  6. The fish are there - they just haven't yet been caught!

  7. puzzling seems to be such a popular Christmas/winter activity--we also participate! With the state of our house right now, we don't have any puzzles going, but I hope to get one or two done at mom's over the holidays.

And I love the cards. Animals with scarves are just too cute, and when they're on shore birds, well, no competition there!

    Happy holidays to ya'll!

  8. Thank you for your comments on Gretel. I love it too.

I also love your puzzle tradition.
I like the idea of leaving it out so anyone can just add to it as they feel like it.

  9. You have got to go to this sight to see another mini like minded person. I thought you would get a kick out of this!

  10. I love the little card! I agree with Margene...a vest would be nice with your handspun.

  11. That really is the perfect card for you. We used to love having a puzzle going during the winter when our kids were young, but have kind of forgotten the tradition. I think we need to re-institute it this year.
