My Go-To Gift

When I first saw these dishcloths on Renna's blog, I knew I wanted to knit a set for the next wedding shower I was invited to. I got a chance to try the pattern this week.

Pattern: Waffle Knit Dishcloth
Yarn: Lion Brand Kitchen Cotton
Colors: Khaki and Cinnamon
Needles: US 7 (one size larger than recommended)
Size: Aproximately 9" x 9"

I give the pattern and the cloth a big thumbs up! It's a quick knit, has lots of texture (good for scrubbing) and looks great on both the right and wrong side.

A gift card from the couple's choice of stores completes this shower gift. I'll wrap them up together and include a note something like this:

  5. that's a great pattern. Once all my ballband dish clothes bite the dust I'll have to give it a try. And love the line for the card! Too funny.

  6. I love making an occasional dishcloth!

Have you run across people who are afraid to use them because they are hand made? When I finally convinced my Mom to USE THEM, she loved them, and of course I promised to make replacements in the future!

  8. I love the colors you used. They look great. I will have to try the pattern. My mom just made one of those in a variegated yarn and I got to see it in person when I was visiting her. It was really pretty. Love your note, so clever!

  18. They're the perfect gift. I've had the hardest time lately thinking of what to give my mom for birthdays, Christmas, etc. She doesn't really want more "stuff," but you can always use dishcloths. I'm thinking she's going to get a few pretty dishcloths this Christmas.

  20. I love the colors you used! You know, I'd been meaning to try this pattern for a while. I finally finished one yesterday. Just don't make my mistake and use variegated yarn. Mine is nice, but the colors don't let the nice waffle pattern show. Yours are beautiful!

  27. They look really nice. I have had this pattern sitting on my couch in my stack. I took it with me to vacation and never got it started. I guess I better now, huh? These look really cute and you'd have to be crazy not to love this for a shower gift!
