Days like this call for wool.
It was damp and windy with feels-like temperatures in the low 20s...and it snowed! Can you see the perfectly formed snowflakes on my coat?
When I pulled out My So Called Scarf (details here) to wear yesterday morning, I decided I didn't like the looks of the cast-on and the bind-off edges, so I added fringe. Much better.
My wool/silk scarf, wool hat & mittens, wool socks and wool coat came in handy. I really felt sorry for all those people wearing acrylic.
What? I thought I was on the wrong blog! Snow!? Good thing you're ready with good warm knits.
ReplyDeleteYea! Snow a knitter in TX dream. I agree with you, I feel sorry for all those people in acrylic. Wool is the only way to stay warm!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays and thanks for the warm birthday wishes.
Still seems a bit unreal that y'all got snow down there.
ReplyDeleteI like the looks of the fringe on your scarf. I don't have enough of the malabrigo left to do a fringe, but I'm going to make a mental note for the next scarf. I was a bit unhappy with the edges myself.
I'll bet it's wonderfully warm!
Snow! That doesn't happen too often where you are, I'd think!
ReplyDeleteYou look warm and cozy though!
How perfecttly wonderful to have snow! Makes an excellent prop with such a beautiful cozy scarf! I do like the colors of your scarf a lot. Great job!
ReplyDeleteIt snowed?? I knew I missed home for a really good reason! All we are getting here at the beach is tons of rain. I might have to take a canoe out of here shortly!
ReplyDeleteMy friend knitted the So called Scarf and she didn't like the cast on/cast off edges either...I'll have to direct her to your post. It looks so nice with the fringe.
ReplyDeleteLove the scarf! The snow has got to go though before we get there! lol. It's sleeting here right now. Blech.
ReplyDeleteLove your woolies!
ReplyDeleteAnd I wish we would get a little snow!
Your scarf is fabulous! and I love the fringe... I'm fairly new to wool (had a sister who was allergic, so grew up without wool) Now...I'm never going back...love wool!
ReplyDeleteLook at you! All bundled up with those big beautiful flakes coming down!
ReplyDeleteSnow, in Texas?! Wait until I tell my hubby. He thinks Texas is the play to move to to get away from the cold and snow!
ReplyDeleteYour scarf is very pretty! Thank God for sheep and wool!
I'm so jealous that you got snow, Tracy, and we got zilch up here in northeast Texas. We did get the cold, though. Wowsers! I drug out the first hat I ever knitted. I think it's ugly as mud soap, but I kept it for sentimental reasons, I guess. Since I give away all the hats I knit, I was actually pretty happy to have it on hand to wear when taking the dog out to do her bizness. ;-Þ
ReplyDeleteI love your scarf, and the fringe really is a great finishing touch.
I LOVE THE SCARF AND THE FRINGE.I'M GLAD WE DIDN'T GET ANY SNOW LAST NIGHT. I'M GETTING TO OLD TO FALL DOWN.
ReplyDeleteYou look all nice and toasty. Love wool. Hummmm I'm thinking a white Christmas maybe?
ReplyDeleteLove the scarf! I don't wear wool because it feels so very itchy to me. Thinking about it makes me itch, LOL! But I'm glad you are able to stay nice and toasty warm. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you...wool is the best. Snow in Texas, eh? Enjoy it, and if you miss it when it ends, there's always Michigan.
ReplyDeleteYour wool hat mittens did look nice and toasty, and merino wool socks are so lovely to wear. I could have used a pair today as it was quite chilly in California today. The scarf does look nice with the fringe.
ReplyDeleteYou look very cozy. I agree with you about feeling sorry for people in acrylic:)
ReplyDeleteYour so called scarf is amazing. Love your colors. You look so cute in the picture. Brrrrrr.
