H is for Hummingbird

I've posted these pictures before, but H had to be for hummingbird--my favorite bird.

Hummingbirds are rare visitors in our yard in the spring, but starting in August, they stop over on their way south. Our last sighting in 2007 was on December 4.

I'm looking forward to their return.

  2. I haven't heard reports of them in our area as yet. It's still so cold, but by May I hope to see them and spend the summer with them at Silver Fork!

  3. Wow - great pictures. You must have one heckuva camera to capture those little critters on film. How fun!

I love the little hummers too, and so does my Mom. Great H.

  5. I love watching them, too. We generally have them in our area of the state from early spring until early October.

Though I haven't seen them in my yard yet, my sis-in-law, who lives out in the country, has had them for about a month now. Seeing hummers at her feeder was the highlight of my visit to her a couple of weeks ago.

  6. Those ARE great photos! I haven't seen hummingbirds since we moved to Alabama, but we had them a lot in Virginia. Perhaps I need to plant some flowers that will attract hummingbirds (and butterflies).

I've been so busy that I'm behind on my blog hopping. Your cupcakes and baby hats are so cute!! Great hummingbird photos too ;o)

  8. I, too, love hummingbirds, but their stay in Wyoming is brief. They don't usually arrive until mid-June in my area. Rarely do the brightly-colored ones visit my house, but the Allen's or Rufous Hummingbirds are quite common.

They certainly are territorial and frequently have battles over the feeders.

  9. Great pictures! In my area we also have hummingbirds. My girlfriend a few miles away has many of them that visit her flowers.

  10. Wow, you never cease to amaze me with your photography!

I too consider hummingbirds a treat (but a rare one here around my house)

I think your pics are the best look I've ever gotten :-)

  11. I love those pictures. Amazing. We will have our friendly little hummingbirds sometime in late July, I think. I watched one from my bedroom window every morning last year. Deo gratias for their beauty.

  12. Love your hummingbirds. We have them all year round here (you probably do too), but I haven't kept a feeder for awhile. When I get to where I can have a real garden I plan on having a butterfly/hummingbird section!
