Q is for Quest

Our quest was to find some of the geocaches hidden at Matagorda Beach.

The first one we discovered gave us all a good laugh.

Matt and Carly are experienced geocachers. They have a good eye for finding the treasure.

John is still learning....

Here's one for you to try. Can you find the micro-cache hidden on the tank in the picture below? It's small and well camouflaged.

Here's a closer look. It's clearly visible in this picture, if you know what you're looking for.

Did you find it?

Each cache has a logbook to sign, even one this tiny.

Our quest was a success: five out of five caches were found and a good time was had by all.

  1. Wow! That little find was amazing. You'd need to be experienced to find it! I've thought about joining the quest for geocaches, but haven't tried it yet. Good work!

  3. This is the coolest thing ever. I love blogs! I'm off to research how we can join the quest. We don't have a GPS but we know people who do!

  6. My goodness, I would be so frustrated trying to find the tiny one. I enlarged the photo and looked at everything closely. I thought it was the light bulbs.

    What a fun activity.

  8. Big fun! We love to geocache, altho I have to say we don't do it very often. That micro cache is really tricky!

  9. I thought it was the lightbulb also! I guess you first have to know what you're looking for. Sounds like a lot of fun!

  10. What a great Q word! :o) I have seen geocaching on a few blogs and it looks like something I would like to try with the kids when they get a little bit older. It has all kinds of home school applications as well as being fun!

  18. Geocaching is something I have only learned about in the last year...but I have not yet tried it. It sounds like it's right up my alley though...I love a mystery.
