Summer's End

The weather was so beautiful this last weekend of summer that we had to get out and enjoy it. John and I spent Friday afternoon at Matagorda Beach. It's about an hour from our house and offers something for both of us.

For John, it's fishing...of course, you knew that.

For me, it's a chance to find a treasure from the gulf, take pictures, knit or just enjoy the scenery.

The first sock of the pair I started last week is finished.

It's made from Online Supersocke Cotton (Beach Color 946). I've found that this yarn is "just right" for our climate and it holds up well to machine washing and machine drying. The first pair I made from it a year ago still looks like new even though it's been worn more than any other pair I own.

We stayed at the beach until dark. On the drive home we talked about what we would do on Saturday.

Not surprisingly, we ended up back at Matagorda. This time I brought along the second sock of the pair.

Summer has ended on a good note. Welcome fall.

  2. You may not have the mountains, but a beach is certainly a wonderful place to hang and enjoy a day.

  5. Your wool windings on the beach pic is so clever (such neat hand writing, too!).

How I envy anyone living within driving distance of the beach.....or mountains....or anywhere of natural beauty. Sigh, I need to move.

  7. Aren't you clever with that cute professional looking sign in the sand. I'm truly impressed! I'm glad you have compatible hobbies like knitting/fishing. BF and I have knitting/baseball which also work. It looks like a great day at the beach. I hope you get some more in before fall really takes hold.

  8. I like your name in the sand and your sock. I have some Online sock yarn I just started using, but I think I'm going to have to rip it out and start over. The sock is too big because I'm knitting 60 sts on 3's. What size needles do you use for your Online yarn, and how many sts do you cast on?

  11. I am glad you found something to enjoy when John is fishing at the beach..I guess you had plenty of time to figure something out! He said the shell picking is going well but the fishing needs to improve.....
