Souvenirs

Yarn always makes the best souvenir, in my opinion. On our trip to Utah I seemed to acquire more than usual. However, each skein of yarn was purchased with a specific project in mind.

My only purchase at Three Wishes was cotton chenille for washcloths. This was on my list of yarns to look for and I was happy to find some in the sale bin.

At The Wool Cabin I was tempted by Alpaca Sox which will become a pair of luxurious socks for me.

And, a hank of Spunky Eclectic Super Nova: a superwash Merino sport weight. It can be used for socks, but I think I'll make up the store's shawl pattern that was free with the yarn. This pretty color is called Utah Sunrise.

I walked out of the Needlepoint Joint with several hanks of Inca Alpaca for a hat and scarf that were in the shop. Those store samples really do help to sell the yarn.

At each shop I asked about Peace Fleece. No one had any. Evidently it's too new or not widely distributed. Most shop owners had never heard of it, though it seems to be very popular in the knit-blogging community. I'll order some online when the time is right, but for now I have plenty of new yarn to keep me busy.

  2. You chose some very pretty yarns! I don't think that Peace Fleece is sold a lot of places, but they have some beautiful yarn!

  3. Peace Fleece is best found on-line. Few shops carry it it anywhere. I love the Utah Sunrise colorway. I'll bet you bought that last skein I've had my eye on;-)

  4. I have never seen Peace Fleece for sale anywhere besides their website. I found it to be a little coarse for my liking, but it would depend on what project you want it for.

  6. I've never seen Peace Fleece anywhere but on-line. I assume it's similar in texture to Carodan Farms yarn, which I've ordered on-line and bought from them at their booths at various sheep and wool festivals. I have knitted several "Everyday Cardigans" with Carodan yarn, though the pattern calls for Peace Fleece.

Peace Fleece is about 25 min. from my grandparents house. Dan and I went there once about... yeesh... ten years ago or so and met Peter, the man that runs it. It was a lot of fun and he showed us around. I'd forgotten all about that and the lighthouse socks kit that I bought to knit for my grandmother. I'll have to get a picture of those when we go visit next month.

  12. Peace Fleece has been around a long time,at least since the early 90s so I am surprised that they hadn't heard of it. I have never seen it in the stores, but I have had friends online in the past who went together and made a co-op order together to get better prices. You might try googling that. Love all your souvenirs!
